What We Do

Consistent action: the key to effectively promoting progressive policies.

We take action on proposed legislation.  We do this during the current legislative session by way of our statewide group, Washington Indivisible Network’s (WIN) platform, Take Action Network.

We endorse candidates for the upcoming election.  We do this by vetting candidates who request our endorsement or who we identify as likely endorsees.

We work to Get Out the Vote (GOTV).  We write postcards and letters to voters to encourage people to make their voices heard by voting.  In addition, we wave our GOTV banner to remind voters of the upcoming election.

We make phone calls and meet with our elected officials. We contact our elected officials to raise issues of concern.

We plan and attend rallies and marches.  We endeavor to shed light on important issues by staging rallies, marches and protests to let the public and our elected officials know we are listening.  We also support other political action groups by attending and tabling at their events.

We attend town halls held by our local elected officials. Our senators and representatives regularly hold public in-district events to show that they are listening to constituents. We make sure our voices are heard by attending these events.

Our Legislative Platform

SCI supports policies and candidates that advance democracy, equity, human rights, climate justice, and the well-being of all communities.

Act swiftly on the climate crisis through clean energy, climate mitigation, ecosystem restoration, wildlife and public lands protection, and science-based stewardship informed by Indigenous knowledge, including protection of wild fish and resident orcas.

Human Rights and Racial Justice

Defend human rights, Indigenous rights, and racial justice by opposing discrimination and systemic inequities in healthcare, education, housing, criminal justice, representation, and economic opportunity.

Guarantee high-quality education for all ages, learning needs, and life stages; support honest, inclusive curriculum; and oppose book bans, censorship, right-wing takeovers of school boards, and Christian nationalist infiltration of public education

Ensure affordable healthcare, fair drug pricing, mental healthcare, and addiction treatment services.

Public Safety and Law Enforcement

Prioritize effective public safety, including alternatives to law enforcement when needs are better met by crisis intervention, social work, behavioral health, food and water assistance, housing support, and school funding. In addition to continuous oversight and reform.

Immigration

Protect the human rights of non-citizens, including minors; support due process and legal representation; oppose unnecessary detention and the collection of citizenship data by law enforcement.
