Snohomish County Indivisible

Candidate Endorsement Process Overview

Snohomish County Indivisible (SCI), under the umbrella of Indivisible National, is a nonpartisan organization joining thousands of organizations nationwide, with a strong track record of supporting the election of outstanding leaders at all levels of government. We have a large mailing list of citizens and activists, including an active group of dedicated Snohomish County activists, bringing about positive change to our democracy.

We are proud to have supported the successful election of many elected officials here in Snohomish County.

This overview explains how Snohomish County Indivisible (SCI) considers candidate endorsements. It does not include all internal committee procedures.

Who We Are
Snohomish County Indivisible is a grassroots organization committed to protecting democracy, advancing progressive values, and supporting candidates who align with our mission and priorities.

Our Endorsement Standard
SCI is a nonpartisan, values-based organization. We may endorse candidates in races where there is clear alignment with our mission and values. When a candidate seeks our endorsement in a contested race, we will make reasonable efforts to notify other candidates in that race who appear, based on public information, to have potential alignment with SCI’s values. This does not guarantee consideration or endorsement; it simply ensures a fair opportunity to participate in our process.

What Endorsement Means
An SCI endorsement represents the organization’s public support. It also reflects a good-faith commitment, as volunteer capacity allows, to help support endorsed candidates through campaign- related activity. Possible support may include visibility at candidate events, canvassing, phone banking, postcard
writing, letters to the editor, sharing campaign information, etc.

How Candidates Are Considered
Candidates may be considered when they request endorsement, are nominated by an SCI member or leadership team, or are identified by the Endorsement Committee for review. Candidates may be asked to complete a questionnaire, provide additional information, participate in an interview, or attend an SCI meeting or event.

How Decisions Are Made
Endorsement decisions are made through SCI’s internal endorsement process. The Endorsement Committee reviews candidate information, considers relevant member input where appropriate, and votes under SCI’s adopted procedures.

SCI may choose not to endorse in every race. Requesting consideration does not guarantee endorsement.

After a Decision Is Made
Candidates will be notified of SCI’s decision as promptly as practical. Endorsed candidates may be announced through SCI’s public communication channels, including email, website, social media, meetings, and other outreach.

Important Notes
SCI’s endorsement process is guided by values alignment, candidate record, responsiveness to local concerns, viability, and the organization’s volunteer capacity.

Platforms are not issued by Indivisible National and any resulting endorsement or statements of support of candidates are exclusive to Snohomish County Indivisible.

Individual SCI members remain free to volunteer personally for candidates of their choice, provided they do not represent personal support as SCI’s position unless SCI has formally endorsed that candidate.

If you would like to be considered for endorsement by SCI, please send an email to us at [email protected] with the following information:
